DESIGNATING THE OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF Ti E CITY OF
ALAMEDA.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Section 18, Article II of the
Charter of the City of Alameda, on June 15, 1936, a contract was entered into between
the City of Alameda and R.L.Brock, publisher and proprietor of The Alameda Journal,
for the publication in said newspaper of all ordinances end legal neticew of the City
for a period ending June 30, 1937, and
WHEREAS formal notice has been given to this Council by the owner and
publisher of said The Alameda Journal that the publidation of said newspaper has been
permanently suspended, and
WHEREAS, the Times-Star Publishing Company publishes a newpaper known and
designated as "ALAMEDA TIMES-STAR"; and
WEEREAS, said newspaper is a newspaper of general circulation, as said term
is defined in Sections 4460, 4462 and 444:!:, of the Political Code of the State of Cal-
ifornia, and is printed, published and circulated in the City of Alameda, and
WHEREAS, there is no newspaper of general circulation published or printed
in the City of Alameda other than said Alameda Times-Star,
NOW THEREFORE, 13 IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OE ALAMEDA that said
Alameda Times-Star be, and it is hereby designated as the official newspaper of the
City of Alameda, and that any publication, notice by publication or official advertis-
ing, required to be made by the provisions of the Charter or of any ordinance or resol-
ution. of the City of Alameda, or of any law of this State, shall be given and made in
said Alameda Times-Star.

1, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular
meeting assembled on the 1st day of June, 1037, by the following vote, to wit:

NOES: None.
ABCENT: Noue.
