UF PORTLAND CEMENT IN TIE. OPEN HAPKET
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Alamedh heretofore adopted specifications for
the furnishing of Portland Cement to tha City for the fiscal year endich June 30, 1839,
and duly• afvertised for bids as provided by tre Chartpr, and
WHEREAS only one bid wes submitted. for furnishing of such cement by Powell Bros.,
Inc., at the price of
p27 per barrel and
WHEREAS in the opinion of the City Council Portland Cement conforming t
specifications can be purchased at a lower price in the open market;
NOW, THEREFORE, PE IT RESOLVED that the bid
same is hereby rejected.

RESOLVED EURTHER tract said City Council hereby finds and determinns that in its
opinion. Portland. Cement can be purchased by the City' of Alameda at a lower price in the
open market than by phrehasing same en contract let after call for sealed. bids.
RESCIVEC PURTHHP that tre City Manager be and he is hereby- authorized to purehcse
all Pcrtland Cement needed for the use of the City for the fiscal year ending June. 30,
19324 from time to time as needed, in the open market and without °entrust or further
call for bids.
