AUTHORIZING 505 MAKING CIP CERTAIN WORK: AND IMPROVEMENTS WITHOUT
CONTRACT
WHEREAS the City, with the approval of the Director of Public Works of the
State of California, has heretofore contracted for the improvement of Broadway Street,
from the northerly line of Otis Drive to the southerly line of Encinal Avenue, consist-
ing of repaving the roadway and widening said street and other incidental work, under
the nrovisions of the Streets and Highways Code, and
WHEREAS said improvement has made it necessary to relocate and install new
street lighting standards, cables, conduits and necessary appurtenances, and
WHEREAS the labor in performing the work of installing said street lighting
standards, cables, conduits and necessary appurtenances is to be done principally
by labor furnished through the Works Progress Administration, and
WHEREAS in the opinion of the City Council -said work of installing slid street
lighting standards, cables, conduits and necessary appurtenances can be performed more
economically by the City without constract;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVKD BY THE COUNCIL OF HE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
the said Council hereby finds and determines that in its opinion, the work of instal-
ling new street lighting standards, cables, conduits and necessary appurtenances on
said portion of Broadway Street will be performed more economically by the City
without contract,
RESOLVED FURTHER that ,said work and improvement be and is hereby authorized
and ordered to be done by the City through its Board of Public Utilities pursuant
to Section 12-3(b) cf the Charter of the City of Alameda.
