111IRCAT5WEENTS WITHOUT CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the City, with the approval ef the Director of Public Works
of the State of California, has heretofore contracted for the improvement of
Broadway Street, from the Southerly line of Encinal Avenue to the Southerly
oitter line of Santa Clara Avenue, consistinz of repaving the roadway and
widening said street and other incidental work, under the provisions of the
Streets and Highways Code, and
WHENEAS, said improvement has made it necessary to relocate and
install new street lighting standards, cables, conduits and necessary
appurtenances along this portion of said street so to be improved, and
WHEREAS, the labor in performing the work of installing, said street
lighting standards, cablea, conduits and necessary appurtenances is to be
done principally by labor furnished through the Works Progress Administration,
and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council said work of installing
said street lighting standards, cables, conduits and necessary appurtenances
can be performed more economically by the City without contract;
NOW, THREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
that the said Council hereby finds and determines that, in. Pts opinion, the
work of installing nee street lighting standards, cables, conduits and neces-
sary appurtenances on said portion of Broadway Street will be performed more
economically by the City without contract,
RESOLVED FURTHER, that said work and improvement be, and is hereby,
authorized and ordered to be done by the City througb its Public Utilities
Board, pursuant to Section 12-3(b) of the Charter of the City of Alameda.
