AUTHORIZING PERFORMANCE ADD COMPLETION OF A PROJECT
FOR THE =PROVED= OF LIITIOLN AVE= IN THE CITY Or
ALAMEDA AHD DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE
FOR SEALED BIDS.
WHEREAS, the City ® Alameda, pursuant to the provisions of the
Streets and. Eighwayh Code of the Otte of California and the rules and regula-
tions promulgated thereunder for administering the provisions thereof, sub-
mitted. to the Director of Lublic Works of the State ef California its project
for the improving of Lincoln Avenue from the Easterly line of Park Street, to
the Westerly cutter line of Everett Street, approximately 546 feet, consisting
of rosurfaciEc over uresent roadway, and widening both sides of the street four
(4) feet, and constructing, new curbs, ghtterb, gutter bridges, sidewalks, and
taking cut present culverts and roplacia. with new, and other incidental work
pertaining to the same: and
WHEREAS, said project and construction work therein contemplated have
been approved by said Director of Public Works, and the moneys required to
cover Inc . cost of said project have been allocated, and the expenditure thereof
authorized and approved; and.
HEREAS, a contract or "Themorandum of Agreement between the City- of
Alameda and the Department of Public Works of the Jtate of California 1000105 '15'
for the expenditure of the 1/4' per gallon tax on meter vehicle fuel oil allo-
cated for Streets of Major Importance in the City of AlaMeda v-is heretofore
jointly executed by Inc Ctty on June 10, 1939 and 0 the Department of Public
WorMs on Juno 22, 19; and
1,330 13, plans and specifications for the improvement and work herein-
before referred to have been prepared by the City Enci-neer of the City of Alameda
and. approved by said Director of Public Works, and filed in. the office of the
City Clerk of said City on the 1st day of Ainnlat, 1939, and raunhered PW 8-374;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA.
that the aforesaid plans 'o nd. specifications be, and. the same are hereby, approved
abh. adopted-
RESOLVED FURTHER that the performance and. completion of the work speci-
fied in said project and in said plans and specifications be, and the same ih
hereby, authorized.
RESOLVED FURTHER that the Cdty Clerk be, and she is hereby, anthoried
and directed to advertise for sealed. bids for the furnihhing of labor and material
required for ths completion of said project and. improvement, in accordance eath
said plans and specifications.

RESOLVED FURTHER that it shall be mandatory upon the contractor, and
upon any sub-contTactor under him, to ray not less than the said specified rates
to all laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them i1 . the execution of said
work and the contract therefor.
RESOLVEE FURTHER that each bid shall be accompanied by 3 cashier's chock,
on a responsible 170111 an a sum equal to ten per cent (101.) of the aggregate amount
of the bid, payable to to City of YUtameda, to be forfeited to said City as agreed
and liquidated damaged should the party or parties tc whom the contract shall Le
awarded. fail to enter into a contract for the performance and comtletion of such
work or to give bonds, as required. by law and. by said plans and specifications.
RESOLVED FURTHER that such sealed bias will be received by the City Clerk•
of the City of Alameda at the Clty Hall UP:Lii Tuesday, the 15th day of August, 19:5,
at 805 o'clock p, m. of said day. All bids must be in writing. The Council re-
serves the right to reject any and all bids.
