WHEREAS, a larGe number of employees of the City of Alameda are desirous
of securinG for themselmes and their families the benefits of Eroup hospitaliza-
tion, suxical and. medical insurance under a plan. of group insurance offered by
the Celiternih-Western States Life Insurance Compiany; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Council the propose d roup insurapee
plan would he benefi cial. to said. employees and to the peblip servEce in general.;
NOW, THEREFORE, 01 1113 RESCIVED BY THE OCUNDIL CT THE 01301 013 ALAMEDA
that the City Manager of the City of Alameda is hereby authorized. and directed
to make application to the California-Western States Ldfe Illurance Company' for
group hospitalization, surgical and medical benefits ibnurance covering the ern-
paoyees of the City of Alameda :n 11 to execute for and. on behalf of the City of
Alameda any and all applications, forms and other papers or documents necessary
to obtadn and cause such gxopp insurance to become effective,
RESOLVED, FERTHE'E, that the Auditor of the City of Alameda is hereby
authorized or directed to make payroll deductions from the salaries or wages of
those abnployees who authorize in writing such deductions, in sums equal to the
amount of premiums to be paid by each such employee in accordance with the sched-
ule of premium specified in the .6"TOUU2 nolley issued by said company.

to hay the amo.unt of such deductions to the Cplifernia-Western States Life Insur-
