APPROVING AND ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR 2102 FISCAL YEAR
1940-19411. APPROPRIATING CERTAIN MONEYS FOR TBE
EXPENDITURES PROVIDED IN SAID BUDGET FOR SAID FISCAL
YEAR, AND RATIFYING CERTAIN EXPENDITUFaS HERETOFORE
MADE.
WHEREAS, there has been submitted to, and filed with, this Council,
at this meeting, a budget presenting a financial plan for conducting the affairs
of the City of Alameda for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1940 ,and. ending
June 30, 1941, which bidget is marked "Filed. with the City Clerk in open meeting
of the City Council, September 3, 1940";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED 3Y THE CCIINCIL OF THE CITY OF 2IA1EDA
that said budget as submitted to this Council at this meeting, and each and
every part thereof, be, and the same is hereby, approved and adopted as the
budget for the City of Alameda for the fiscal year 1940-1941, and that the ex-
penditures of the various sums of money therein provided to be spent for each
specific purpose, and the several purposes therein set forth Tor which such
expenditures are provided to he made during the said fiscal year be, and the
same are hereby, approved and. authorized.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there be, and are hereby, appropriated for
the fiscal year 1940-1941, for the purpose of meeting the cost of salaries and
wages paid officers and employees, the cost of maintenance, operation and for
equipment and other capital outlay, of the respective departments, divisions,
offices and boards of the City, and for the purpose of paying the annual in-
stallments of principal and interest on the City's bonded indebtedness, and for
all other purposes designated in said budget, the several sums of money respec-
tively allotted in said budget for the respective purposes of the said depart-
ments, divisions, offices and boards of the City, and for such special funds
and other purposes designated in said budget; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all of the appropriations herein provided
for are made out of the General Fund for the fiscal year 1940-1941, except those
made to the following designated purposes, to wit: "Bond Interest and Redemption",
"Public Library", "Initiative and Relief Fund", "Public Schools", "PolAcemen and
Firemen's Pension Fund", "Alameda Municipal Employees' Retirement Fund" and "Street
Improvement Fund", which appropriations are made out of the special funds respec-
tively established therefor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such expenditures as may have been made by
the several departments, divisions, offices and boards of the City after the be-
ginning of the fiscal year 1940-1941, and prior to the adoption of this resolu-
tion, and have been or may be duly approved by the City Auditor, are hereby
ratified, confirmed and approved, and shall be respectively charged against the
appropriations herein and in said budget provided for.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in regular meeting assembled on the 3rd day of September, 1940, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President
Weichhart, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
