ENDORSING APPLICATION OF TRANSCONTINENTAL & WESTERN
AIR, INC., TO AMEND ITS PRESENT ROUTE TO INCLUDE
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, AS AN INTERMEDIATE STOP
BETWEEN LAS VEGAS NEVADA AND FRESNO 0 ALIFOREIA.
WHEREAS, Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc., has filed or contem-
plates filing with the Civil Aeronautics Authority, the Interstate Commerce
Commission and any other agency having jurisdiction an application to amend
its present route to include Los Angeles, California, as an intermediate stop
between Las Vegas, Nevada, and Fresno, California, and thereby provide through
transcontinental air service and also additional air service to Los Angeles
from the San Francisco Bay area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has at present many business interests
in common with the City of Los Angeles and therefore requires adequate air
transportation between the two cities; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Council the through transcontinental
aervice offered by Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc., will be of great ad-
vantage to the City of Alameda in that it will provide efficient, fast and
convenient service to cities on the present Transcontinental & Western Air
system; and
WHEREAS additional service to the Los Angeles area, in the opinion
of this Council, is greatly to be desired in that it will aid in the national
defense;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
that the application of Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc., to amend its
present route to include Los Angeles, California, as an intermediate stop be-
tween Las Vegas, Nevada, and Fresno, California, be, and the same is hereby,
endorsed; and
3E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to
the Civil Aeronautics Authority, the Interstate Commerce Commission and any
other agency having jurisdiction.

duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in regular meeting assembled on the 17th day of September, 1940, by the follow-
