AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY TO MAKE APPLICATION'
TO THE RAILROAD COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
FOR PERMISSION TO CONSTRUCT CROSSINGS AT GRADE OVER
TRACTS F THE ALAMEOA BELT LINE.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda on September 3, 1940,
authorized the construction of Main Street from the Northerly curb lino of
Pacific Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, formerly Industrial highway, and thence
in a Northwesterly direction to connect with the Alameda Naval Air Base,
and the construction of Atlantic Avenue, formerly Industrial Highway, from
Main Street Westerly to the Peralta Grant Line; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the construction of said
Main Street and Atlantic Avenue as aforesaid were heretofore approved by
the Council of the City of Alameda; and
wnaREA, in order to complete the construction of said highways
in accordance with the said plans and specifications it is necessary that
crossings at grade be constructed across the Alameda Belt Line at the points
where said highways intersect the existing tracks of said Alameda Belt Lino;
NOW, THEREFORE, BD IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF T100 CITY OF
ALA:Z:0A, that the City make application to the Railroad Commission of the
State of California, for an order authorizing the constriction of crossings
et grade at the points where said Main Street and said Atlantic Avanue
across the existing railroad tracks of said Alameda Belt 'line, and the
Mayor of the City of Alameda is hereby authorized and directed to make, for
and on behalf of the City of Alameda, an application to said Railroad Com-
MiSSiOn for the purposes aforesaid, and to do and perform all acs required.
in connection therewith.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly end regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City
of Alameda in adjourned regular meeting assembled on the Eth day of Ceteher,
1940, by the following vote, to wit,
AYES: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and Pres"-
dent •eichhart, (5).
