Resolution 02677RESOLUTION 1(0. 2677 AUTHDRIZING PERFORMANCE AND COMPLETION OF A PROTECT nR 1 RECONSTRUCTION OF A LEVEE AT THE WESTERLY END OF BAY FARM ISLAND IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR SEALED BIDS. WINEREAS, as the result of high and unprecedented. floods and storms in the City of Alameda, subsequent to Tannery 1, 1940 and during the winter season of 1940-1941, extensive damage was done to the westerly levee of the Bay Farm Island tidelands in said city, which levee was and is the only means of protect- ing the public highways and other public pronerty on Bay Farm island and particu- larly the State Highway known as Route No. 69 and the Municipal Golf Course from inundation and damage by the waters cf San Francisco Lay; and WHEREAS, in order to avert further damage to said highways and public property it is necessary that the needed work of repair and restoration. of said levee be completed. prior to the time when storms and floods may again be expected; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda heretofore applied to the State for assist- :ince in meeting the cost of repair and reconstruction of said levee, under Chapter 1, Statutes of 1040, 2nd Extra SC,SS10171, as amended by Chapter 1, Statutes of 1940, 4th Extra Session; and WHEREAS, the Chief of the Division of Water Resources, also known as the State Engineer, has investigated the proposed work, has found that the property has a general publie and State interest and that its repair and restoration is a matter of general public and State concern, has estimated the cost of the work and prepared a detailed budget of expenditure fcr the work and has flied hi Report No. A-106 the:eon (inclusive of said findings, estimate and. budge3,) with the several officers and departments as required by law and said report has been approved by the Director of Finance and the Otote Controller; and W(HEREAS, an agreement between the City of Alameda and the Department of Public Works of the State of California providing for the reoair and. reconstruction of said levee rursuant to the provisions of said statutes was heretofore jointly executed by the City on September 11, 1041 and by the Department of Public Works on September 12, 1941; and WHEREAS, Plans and Opecifications and Special Provisions for the ici- prevement and work hercinbefore referred to have been prepared by the City Engi- neer of the City of Alameda arid approved by the said Department of Public Works, and filed in the office of the City Clerk of said. city on the 280 day of October, 1941, and numbered PW 10-414: NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOIS,IED BY dEE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP ALAMEDA that the aforesaid Plars and (Specifications and Special Provisions be, and the (same COL hereby, approved and adopted.
