APPRGVINS PROGRAM FOR THE IMPRDVEMENT OF THE STATE
RECIEMAY SYSTEM ON' THE EASTERN' SIDE OF' a4m FRANCISCO
DAT AND PETITIOEING THE STATE HIGHWAY COBVISSIPW TO
CARRY OUT' SAID PROGRAM.
WHEEEAS, an engineering committee composed. of the City. Engineers of
the metropolitan area on the eastern side of San Francisco Fey and the Coanty
Surveyor of Alamedw County nave, at the suggestion of the Chairman of the Board
of supervisors of Alameda County, mht together to study the need. for Shprove-
ment of the State Highway System within Alameda County. and to designate those
portions of the State Highways which in. their opinion. 1 shold receive the earli-
est attention; and..
WHEREAS, said committee nes, as a result of this study, irked out a
suggested program for progressive improvement over the next few years of the
State Highway System on. the eastern side of San Francisco Bay, which program
was embodied in a letter dated February 92 1945, to Mr. Thomas E. Caldecott,
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Alameda County, and was shown on the
accompanying map of Alameda County, a copy of which letter ant map has been
submitted. to this City Council by the City Nnsineer and is hereby ordered
filed in the office of the City Clerk;

other Fast Bay es ant. with. Alameda County. in petitioning the Highway Com-
mission. of tbe State of California to proceed, as fast an it may be possible
with. available funds, to carry out this program for the benefit of the entire
East Buy Region-
