RESOLUTION NC. 3216
CREATING ONE POSITION OF ASSISTANT LABCR SUPERVISOR, TWO
POSITIONS OF SUB-FOREMAN, TWO POSITIONS OF EQUIPMENT
OPERATOR, AND ONE POSITION OF PAINTER, IN THE STREET
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES
AND FIXING THE SALARIES THEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA as follows:
SECTION 1. The position of "Assistant Labor Supervisor" is hereby
created and established in the Street Department of the City of Alameda.
The duties of the position of Assistant Labor Supervisor, and of the
person holding such position, shall be as follows: To assist the Labor Super-
visor in supervising, through subordinate foremen, a large crew of laborers or
several crews of laborers, occupied in diversified activities; to maintain time
and equipment records; and to do related work as required.
The salary for the position of Assistant Labor Supervisor be, and is
hereby, fixed et $216.00 per month on the basis of a forty-hour work week, and
the straight time hourly rate is hereby fixed at $1.245; that the hourly rate
for over forty (40) hours work per week is hereby fixed at $1.87.
SECTION 2. Two (2) positions of "Sub-Foreman" are hereby created and
established in the Street Department of the City of Alameda.
The duties of the position of Sub-Foreman, and of the person holding
such position, shall be as follows: Under general supervision of Labor Super-
visor and/or Assistant Labor Supervisor, to supervise and assist a small crew
or gang of semi-skilled or unskilled laborers in repair, maintenance and instal-
lation work, and to do related work as required.
The salary for each such position of Sub-Foreman be, and is hereby,
fixed at $199.00 per month on the basis of a forty-hour work week, and the
straight time hourly rate is hereby fixed et $1.148; that the hourly rate for
over forty (40) hours work per week is hereby fixed at $1.722.
SECTION 3. Two (2) positions of "Equipment Operator" are hereby
created and established in the Street Department of the City of Alameda.
The duties of the position of Equipment Operator, and of the person
holding such position, shall be as follows: To operate light equipment and to
do related work as required.
The salary for each such position of Equipment Operator be, and is
hereby, fixed at $190.00 per month on the basis of a forty-hour work week, and
the straight time hourly rate is hereby fixed at $1.096: that the hourly rate
for over forty (40) hours work per week is hereby fixed at $1.644.
SECTION 4. The position of "Painter" is hereby created and estab-
lished in the Street Department of the City of Alameda.
The duties of the position of Painter, and of the person holding such
position, shall be es follows: To scrape, spray and sand surfaces in preparation
for painting, varnishing, enameling and finishing by brush or spray machine; to
perform a wide variety of skilled tasks in connection witt application of paints,
and other covering materials, and to do related work as assigned or directed.
The salary for the position of Painter be, and is hereby, fixed at
$190.00 per month on the basis of a forty-hour work week, and the straight time
hourly rate is hereby fixed at $1.096; that the hourly rate for over forty (40)
hours work per week is hereby fixed at $1.644.

in regular meeting assembled on the lath day of September, 1945, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Howe, Jones, Osborn, Sweeney and President
Branscheid, (5).
NOES: None.
