AUTHORIZING CITY ATTORNEY AND CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE
AND DISCHARGE CLAIMS OF CITY WITH RESPECT TO GOVERT‘TMENT.
ISLAND SHIT.
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has caanonced an actor in tne Uni ted
states District Court, in and for the Northern District of California, Southern
Division, No. 2.224-B., entitled "United States of America, Plaintiff, vs. Cer-
tain land situated an Government Island, in the City of Alaneda, County of
Alaneda, State of California, et al. , Defendants;” and
WHEREAS, it is to the best interests of the people of the City of
Alameda thdt the City Attorney and the City Hanaser negotiate wlth any parti es
in interest with reference to the land involved in said action in order to safe-
guard the claims of the City or Alameda in and to said land;
NOW IDEREPORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AIAMEDA
that Don C. McVlilan, City Manager, and Stanley D. Whitney, City Attorney, be,
and they are hereby, eutherized and directed. to negotiate and to enter into any
arrangement, contract, compromises or discharge in respect to any claims of
said City in connection. with the above referred to action.
1, the undersigned, hereby certify that the forehoins Resolution was
duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in regular meeting assenbled on the ihth day of October, 1945, by the folicwinj
