CALLING SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN
T923 CITY OF ALAMEDA ON MAY 24, 1.955; ESTABLISHING
ELECTION PRECINCTS; FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION
OFFICERS ON THE BOARD 01) ELECTION FOR EACH
PRECINCT; FIXING COMPENSATION 0? ELECTION OFFICERS
AND DESIGNATING HOURS OF VOTING.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Division 4, Chapter 3, Article 2,
of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Council of the City of Alameda
has determined that a Special Municipal Election shall be held in said city;
NOW, MiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
a Special Municipal Election be, and is hereby, called and ordered to be held in said
City of Alameda, State of California, on Tuesday, May 'L, 1955, in accordance with the
provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 128 election precincts within the City of
Alameda, designated. and numbered. consecutively from No 1 to No. 128, both inclusive,
as the same were last heretofore defined, designated, fixed and established by the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election
precincts within the City of Alameda for holding General State and County Elections,
he, and the same are hereby, fixed, designated and established as the election pre-
cincts for holding the aforesaid Special Municipal Election,
BF IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Election for each precinct at said
Special Municipal Election shall consist of one Inspector, one Judge and one Clerk.
SE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the compensation to he paid to each of the
election officers for conductiw said Special Municipal Election be, and the same is
hereby, fixed at the sum of ),.7:9.00; provided, that the additional sum of 81.00 shall
he paid to the election officer who delivers the returns to the City Clerk.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the polls at the polling places hereafter to be
designated by the Council for said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock A. M.
(P.D.T.) of said day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until
7 o'clock P. M. (P.D.T.) of said day of election when the is 1] s shall. be closed.
(except as provided in Section 0738 of the California Elections Code) and the election
officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat and the returns
of said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be
by them deposited with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Council shall. mcet et its usual meeting place
and canvass said returns on Tuesday, the 7th day of June, 1955, (being the first regu-
lar meeting of the Council. following said Special Municipal Election) at the hour of
800 o'clock P. M. and declare the results of said Special Municipal Election.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk. be, and she Is hereby, directed to
do and perform any and all acts reenired of her under the Charter of the City of
Aimed a and the laws of the State of California in respect to said Special Munici-
pal Election.
RE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Special Municipal Election, called and
ordered to be hold, es aforesaid, shall. be help and conducted, and the votes cast
thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, and the result thereof
ascertained, determined and declared, as herein provided, and in all particulars not
recited herein, in accordance with the Charter of oaid City of Alameda and the laws
of the State of California governing said Special Municipal Election.

and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular
meeting assembled on. the 5th day of April, 1955, by the following vote, to wit:

NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
