ENDORSING AND APPROVING EIST MUNICITAL UTILITY
DISTRICT,S WATER DEVELOPMETT PROJECT AND URGING ALL
VOTERS TO ENDORSESAME AT THE TIIIE '6), 1958 ELECTION._
WHEREAS, the East Bay. Area is one of thr fastest growing asctIons of cur
nation and
WHEIPEAS, the East Eissy Municipal Stiaity District is faced with the respon-
sibility of providing an adequate supply DT water of heIgh cluality at reasonable cost
to meet the growing needs of this large East Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, it new becomes necessary. to develhp additioRal quantities of
water for the imnediate and long range future neeas of the East Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the East Bay Municipal. Utility District, in order to dh this, pro-
poses to construct during the next ten years, new dams, aqueducts, transmission. lines,
pumping plants and reservoirs, and. other necessary facilities in order to meet ade-
quately the growing water needs of this rapidly expanding area; and
WHEREAS, this expansion program es111 require a bond issue totaling 't252,600,000
which can be financed. without an increase in the present property tax rate or an
increase in the present water rate schedule; and
WHEREAS, 'P2.52,000,000 bond issue will appear on the ballot at the forthy
coming primary' election June 3, 1958 for the consideration of all regiatered voters
withim the East Bay Mxmicipal Utility District;
NO14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY 70E COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF' AIAMEDA that
said. Co1 ncil. does hereby endorse and approve. of Use East Bay Municipal Utility 1t11 111 Water Development Project for the East Bay Area and urges all 'voters te cast
e favorable vote for the Water Pond Issue on June 3, 1958.
