REEOLUTION OF' THE COLTEIL OF' THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
URGING AND REWESPIM THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COM-
ISSION OF THE; STATE OF CALIFORNIA THAT ACEETETATED
AMORTIZATION AND DEPRECIATION BE NOT USED AS A
BASIS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF GAS AND ELECTRIC
RATES.
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Covmdssin of thE State of Callfornia has
undertaken through its Case No. 61AS a. series of hearings on tne question of
accelerated amortization and accelerated depreciation us these principles relate to
tRe fixing of rates for the Pacific Gas and Electric Comhgny: and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of said principles would have the effect of
ihEreasihg substantially the rates paid by the customers. of said company without
commEnsurate increase in the operating expense of said. company; and
MPEREAS, thE City of Alameda is concern with tEe muintenance of equi-
table wtilitylEate structures, both as a purchaser of electricity for regale from
said company and as an agency of government interested. in utility chargns made to
all private util'ty consumers within its boumdaries;
'0 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL GE THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
the Public Utilities Cominission be urged. to deny the use cf accelerated amortization.
an accelerated. deprecon in the dEtermination of utility rates.
