Resolution 05986• RESOLUTION YO. 5906 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF AIAMEDA CONCERNING INADEQUATE AIRLINE SCHEDULES AT METROPOLITAN OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. lArTLTERAS, in the opinion and judgment of the Council of the City of Alameda, the ochedulad airlines certificated to provide service at Metropolitan Oakland Inter- national Airport do not provide adequate schedules Inc service to meet the conven- ience and necessity of the traveling public residing in and traveling to and from the East Eay Area, containing over 1,500,000 residents, vfnich 13 most conveniently served through the Metropolitan Oakland international Airport; and WITDRESS the service provided at Oakland Airport by the scheduld air carriers has not kept pace vith the rapid and phenomenal growth of air traffic but, on thn contrarn, has deteriorated; and WHEREAS, this has resulted in imposing unnecessary inconvealence in miles of travel and expense to another aLrport upon. the thousands of air travelers living In the entire East San Francisco Err Area; and HEREAS, the situation has become so-critipal that It is imperati,/e that- something be done immediately to correct tt NOV THEREFORE, EE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL cr THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the representatives in Congress from the Metropolitan Oakland Area be and they here- by arc respectfally urged to du all in their power, througt. the Civil Aeronautics Board and otherwise, to the end that airline schedules and service at Metropolitan Cakiand international Airport be Unproved so that they adequately' meet the existing public need. HE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Civil Aeronautics Epard be and hereby 13 urged to institute an informal investigation into the needs for improved airline service at Metropolitan Oakland International Airport. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the Civil Aeronautics Board be and hereby is urged to conclu.de, at the earliest possible date, its proceedings in the Pacific Southwest. Local Service Case, Docket lo. 5645, and the Southern Transcontinental Service Case, Docket No. ?0 in order that additional 2101 ire service be authorized to points involved in those cases in order that some of the moot critical deficiencies in ser- vice at Oakland be corrected, namely, oarvice to Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Fresno, Sacramento, Reno, and points in Texas, Inuisiana, Goorgis and Florida. * * * * * * * * * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution Vac duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular Tooting assembled on the 303 . day of August, 1V5.9, by the following vote, to wit AYESt Councilmen Collischonn, Petersen, Schacht and President Mcall, (( ).
