WWYREAS, the heavy rate of growth and development of this region, with snecial emphneis on
population, industry and the increu.sing use of uuterays and comercial ship traffic, reflyiras a
consistent, tmagfinative improvement and exoansion. of navigable u.ate.rs and harbors, as has been pro-
vded generally in. Lhe past by the Congress; and

VPACREAS, the Bay Regjon Marine Affairs Conference. after careful study, has rezerunended
that Consress appropriate $11,233,000 for use in the 1962 fiscal year to finance five investlgation,
finn construction, and fifteen maintenalnue projects by the. Corps of Army Engineers; and
UHEREfS, these projects represent a. reasonable, efficAent level of performance and opera-,
tions by the Corps of Army Engineers and are of vital importance to the economy and progress of this
thirteenucounty Pay Region, includi.ng the City of AJanude;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY" TUE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the recommendation
of the 3ay Region Maxine Affairs Conference, relating to congression1 l. appropriation of $11,23.3,000
for Bay Region. navigational and related harbor developmeat, is hereby endorsed.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk of the Clty of Alaneda is hereby cflrected to transnOt
certifieJ copies of this resolution. to ail pertinent parties.
