RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT CERTAIN DESCRIBED LICENSES OR
PRIVILEGES TO USE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA FOR
FALLOUT SHELTER PROTECTION.
WHEREAS, the President of the United States has undertaken for the nation an accelerated
and strengthened civil defense program, including a fallout shelter program; and
WHEREAS, in response to said program, various owners of property within the City of Alameda,
voluntarily and without compensation, have offered, and other such property owners will in the future
offer, to grant jointly to the Government of the United States and the City of Alameda certain
licenses or privileges to use their property for purposes of sheltering persons temporarily during
or after enemy attack; and
WHEREAS, a standard form for the granting of said licenses or privileges has been prepared
by the Government of the United States, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk,
marked "Filed Apr. 17 1962; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda will incur no financial obligation in the acceptance of said
licenses or privileges other than for the placement, maintenance and car of signs, equipment and
stocks of supplies placed on the premises by the City of Alameda pursuant to the terms contained in
the aforementioned form; and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of said licenses or privileges will aid in the protection of the
citizens of the City of Alameda in case of enemy attack;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the City Manager,
or, in his absence, the Assistant City Manager, is hereby authorized and empowered to formally
accept on behalf of the City of Alameda all said licenses or privileges when granted to the City on
the aforesaid form of the United States Government.

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
17th day of April, 1962, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Godfrey, McCall, Rose, Schacht and President Collischonn, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
