DAMAGED BOOKS, P1BLEC1 TIONE1 AND OTHER SURPLUS LENDING MATERIALS

WHEREAS, in the normal operatlon. of the Alameda Free Library, certain books, pubJications
and. ()tiller len.ding materials become damaged, obsolete. and cUthervdse unusable for liCrary purposes;
and
WHEREAS, tRe determinatvion that such materials are surplus to the needs of the library
can be best and most effectively made by the AV ameda library Board;
NVW TREREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TME COUNCIL OF TilE CITY CR" ALA.R1EDA that ths Alameda
Library Board is hereby authorized to order the sale or other disposition of all obsolete and
dainaged books, publications and surplus lencling mat,erials under Ole value of $100.00 by adherence
to the fol Lowing procedures
1. iikiene,eer the City Librarian determines that there are sufficient damaged,
obsolete and otherwise suitplus lending mRterials en bend to warrant action
by the lAbrary Board, under the above authorization, he sball transmit to
the Board a memorandum settRtig forth tine factis upon viiRcEi. he has made his
determination and containing a designation of said materials by title,
catalog number. or other similar meansi of ideRR ficatRon,
2. Upon receipt. of the Librarian's memorandum the Board shall proceed to make

on Llie open market. If it is apparent that the cost of conducting soch sale would
exceed the proceeds obteinable thereby, then the. Board shall. direct the Librarian
to di spose of the m.ateri al s in. the T,anner deemed by the Board Lo be i n the best
inaerests cf the Cdty.
4. The Librarian'S Memorandum, as well as the Findings and Directions of the Board,
sha11 be filed tlie City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOIVI) that the signature of the City Librarian affixRd to any bi.11 of
