SUPPORTING AND URGING TIE AD. TION OF' SENATE BILL 344.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 344, proposing certain increases in highway user taxes for the pur-
poses of aiding the es and counties of California in meetAng critical sLreet deficiencies,
has been i.ntroduced; and
WHEREAS, said deficiencies in the City of Alameda, through the year 19S0, are estimated
i n excess of $31,000,000, as specified i n Lhe current raeport filed ia conformity with the pro-
visions 1 1 1 enate Concurrent Resolution 62; and
WHEREAS, the revenue resources now available to Lhe City of Alamda are grosaly inadequate
to meet. any aiajor portion cf said deficiency; and
WHEREAS, the moneys produced by Senate 3ill 344 would be expended upon the constrlIction
of streets having greater than local import.ance;
NOW, TREREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCII OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that, said Counc1.1
does hereby unanimously urge the. adoption of Senate 1 1 344. to provide substantial and equiLable
assistance to tbe cities and counties uf, California in t4te solutic,r1 of 11 111(1 statewide
problem.
