RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA (Y'f
TRE PROPOSAL TO CHANGE THE M,,F1E OF STATE COLLEGE FOR ALAMEDA
COUNTY TO CALIFORNIA SIATE COLLEGE AT HAYWARD,
WHEREAS, tDis Council is advised that the Board of Trustees of the California State College
System, at its meeting on june 6, 1963, will consider a proposal to change the name of StaIe College
for Alameda CounEy to California State College at Ilayward; and
WHEREAS, The aforementioned institution was founded to serve, does now serve, and will in
the, future concinue Le serve a large re8ional area not confined to the City limits of Hayward; and
WHEREAS, th,F. Council is further advised thaI less than 6% of the institution's presehM
student body is drawn from the City of Hayward;
NOM THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TRE CITY OF' ALAMEDA that this Council
hereby expresses its opposition to the proposal to change the name of State College for Alameda
County to California State College at Hayward, or tn any otber name which wouid imply that the func-
tion of said college is local rather than regional in character.
