RESOLUTION OF IKE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 43 149, IN MEMORIAM.
TO DAVID D. HIERHES, RETIRED ASSISTANT PURCHASING AGENT AND

WITH HEARTFELT SORPOl,J, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of
its former, faithful. employees, DAVID D. HUGHES, retired Assisbant Asrchasing Agenb and 3uilding
Superiabendeng,
WHEREAS, MT. Hughes had commenced his employ with the City of Alameda in the position
of jungor Civil Engineer in the Public Works Department:, as of January I, 1939, and had, subse-
quently, been appointed as the Assistant Purchasing Aent. and Building Supeemdens on April 20,
1944, in Whigh post he had on• working at the time of his retirement oh. July 31, 1957; and
WHEREAS, Mr. ughes had been conbantly mindful of the economy mf the City and had
conscientiously endeavored to achieve the gest results possible in. the operation of his depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, mt. Hoghas had been held in. high esLeem hy his associates and fellow-employees
for his capable and forthright performance of his duties and his friendly cooperation in fulfill-
ing the needs of 'their respective offices.
NOW, THEREFORE, 130 IT RESOLVED that eha Council of the City of Alameda does hereby am:k-
nowledge with true appreciation the eighteen. years of competent: service rendored by Mr. Rgghes
and does hereby express ibs sense of personal. sadness in the suffering an,, . loss of Lhis fine man.
