Resolution 06656CITY OF 23• 12 XESOLUTION NO, 6656 DECLARING CANVASS OF (24' 13 AND RESULT OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 30, 1964. WHEREAS, a Special Municipal. Election was held in the City of Alameda on Tuesday, June 30, 1964., and and pursuant to the provisions of Article XIX of the Charter of said City, for the pur- pose of submitting to the qualified electors, on petition signed by fifteen per cent of the registered electors, the proposal known as "Measure A' to amend the Charter of the City of Alameda by adopting Section 25-1 of a new Article NXV to said Charter to read as follows: 25-1. Urban Renewal, area redevelopment pursuant to Federal or State aid shall not be adopted in the City of Alameda without a vote of the people." and WHEREAS, the Council, on its owo motion, did submit to the qualified electors of the City of Alameda at said Special Municipal Election, a certain advisory proposal, known as 'Measure B", which read as follows: "Shall the Redevelopment Plan for the Park Centre Project (No. Calif. R-63) heretofore on March 11, 1964, approved by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Alameda, be adopted by the City Council?" WHEREAS, there were 24 coneOIXdated election precincts within the City of Alameda fixed and established by resolution of the Council of said City and designated, fixed and established by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election precincts within the City of Alameda for holding general State and County electiona - as the election pre- cincts for holding the aforesaid Special Municipal Election of the City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, alE of the ballots used for said election were prepared as to form and contents, as prescribed by law, and a sample ballot was mailed to each voter of the Ctty of Alameda oithAn the time and in the manner provided by law, and such mailing was completed at least ten (10) whole dayx preeedinE the date of strid election, and WHEREAS, the officers of election for said election were duly appointed and qualified, and all ejection supplies were furnished and election booths were provided for each precinct as provided by law; and UMERES, the Council of the City of Alameda, at this, 3-2( 3-1 regular meeting following said eleotNon, has mat and fully canvassed the returns of the votes cast at said Special Municipal Election as required by law, and being fully advised in the premises, and having the returoN of said canvass before it. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CI:EY OF ALAMEDA and said Council finds, as follows (1) That said Special Municipal Election was held and conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared, in all respects and particulars in the time, form and manner provided by law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND DECLARED that the aforesaid Measure not having received a majority of the nuaber of votes cast, was, and it is hereby declared to be, defeated.
