Resolution 06679CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 6679 URGING THE ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO CONTINUE THE EXISTING COUNTY-CITY GAS TAX FORMULA FOR AN ADDITIONAL FIVE-YEAR PERIOD TO INCLUDE FISCAL YEAR 1969-1970. WHEREAS, the Constitution and legislation of the State of California provide for the col- lection of certain taxes from highway users for the purpose of adding to, improving and making safe and useful the highways, streets and roads of California; and WHEREAS, the legislature has, in recognition of urgent need, provided for the apportion- ment of Highway Users' Taxes by certain prescribed formulae among the counties of the State; and WHEREAS, pursuant to such formulae, Alameda County is by law apportioned certain Highway Users' Tax money; and WHEREAS, for the past ten years, beginning in 1955, the County has, to satisfy inequities, apportioned a share of the County's Highway Users' Tax Funds to the cities of Alameda County for the improvement of streets of general County importance; and WHEREAS, even in view of recent legislative changes, in which additional funds have been made available to the cities and the County, Inequities will still exist which can be partially corrected by continued apportionment of a share of the County Highway Users' Tax Funds to the cities under the present agreement; and WHEREAS, said continuation of apportionment by the County would, even when coupled with new funds made available by the legialature, provide less funds per dollar of deficiency for the cities than would be available to the County; and WHEREAS, concerted effort has been made by cities to expend funds as soon as practicable; and WHEREAS, by such effort 71.67. of funds distributed in the past four years has been expended; and WHEREAS, of the 28.47. not yet expended, most was distributed within the past six months; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the "County- City Formula" for allocations to cities be continued for a five-year period beginning with the 1965-1966 fiscal year and continuing through the 1969-1970 fiscal year; and BE LT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Alameda respectfully urge that the Board of Supervisors of Alameda County approve the extension of the formula based on the full 0.725c now subvented to the cities under Section 2107 and Ike of the total 1-5/8e now subverted to the County under Section 2104 of the Streets and Highways Code. * * * * * * * * I, che undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 18th day of August, 1964, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen La Croix, Jr., McCall, Rose and President Godfrey, (4).
