CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 6683
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN APPRECIATION
AND COMMENDATION OF GLENN A. BAXTER, RETIRED GENERAL MANAGER OF
THE BUREAU OF ELECTRICITY, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC UTILITIES, OF
THE CITY OF ALAMEDA.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records with pride the long tenure of office held by
MR. CLENN A. BAXTER as an employee and officer of the City of Alameda,
WHEREAS, Mr. Baxter was employed on September 25, 1931, to fill the position of Secretary
of the Public Utilities Board and acted in this capacity most efficiently until September 1, 1951,
at which time he was appointed General Manager of the Bureau of Electricity in which position he was
serving at the time of his retirement on August 18, 1964; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baxter has earned recognition in the field of public utilities management and
has brought honor to the City of Alameda through his service as Secretary and Treasurer, respec-
tively, of the Northern California Municipal Utilities Association and the California Municipal
Utilities Association and his participation on certain Committees of the American Public Power
Association; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baxter has demonstrated his loyalty and competence in the full assumption of
responsibilities and the discharge of his duties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby acknowledges
with gratitude the many years of excellent service rendered by Mr. Baxter and the amicable relations
engendered by him with all of his associates; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED'that the Council of the City of Alameda and all of Mr. Baxter's
many friends throughout the community extend to him their sincere congratulations on his outstanding
record of service and their best wishes for his continued good health and much happiness during his
retirement.
1, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
1st day of September, 1964, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Freeman, La Croix, Jr., McCall, Rose and President Godfrey, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
