CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 6725
CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA OF TUESDAY, MARCH 9, 1965; ESTABLISHING ELECTION
PRECINCTS; FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION OFFICERS CN THE BOARD
OF ELECTION FOR EACH FRECINCTe' FIXING COMPENSATION OF ELECTION
OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING HOURS OF VOTING.
WHEREAS, Article XIX of the Charter of the City of Alameda provides that a General Munici-
pal Election shall be held in said City on Tuesday, March 9, 1965; and
WHEREAS, at said General Municipal Election, and pursuant to the provisions of the Charter
of said City, officers are to be elected to fill the office of Councilman for three full terms; the
office of Auditor for one full term and the office of Treasurer for one full term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TOE CITY OF ALAMEDA that a General Munici-
pal Election be, and is hereby, called and ordered to be held in said City of Alameda, State of
California, on Tuesday, March 9, 1965, in accordance with the provisions of said Charter of the City
of Alameda, fcr the purpose of electing the following named officers of the City for the terms
specified:
Three (3) Councilmen on the Council of said City for three full terms, each term
commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1965, and continuing
for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified;
one (1) Auditor of said City for a full term commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the
third Tuesday in April, 1965, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until
a successor is elected and qualified;
One (1) Treasurer of said City for a full tern commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the
third Tuesday in April, 1965, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until
a successor is elected and qualiflede
and for the purpose of voting on any measures or propositions which may lawfully he submitted at
said election.
BE 11 FURTHER RESOLVED that the 115 election precincts within the City of Alameda, desig-
nated and numbered as the same were last heretofore defined, fixed and established by the Board of'
Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election precincts within the City
of Alameda for holding General State and County Elections, be, and the same are hereby, fixed,
designated and established as the election precincts for holding the aforesaid General Municipal
Election-
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Election Inc each election precinct at said
General Municipal Election shall consist of one Inspector, one Judge and two Clerks.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the compensation to be paid to each of the election officers for
conducting said General Municipal Election be, and the Same is hereby, fixed at the sum of Twelve
(512.) Dollars; provided, that the additional sum of Two ($2.) Dollars shall he paid to the election
cfficer who delivers the returns to the City Clerk.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the polls at the polling places hereafter to be designated by the
Council for said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election and
shall be kept open continuously thereafter until 7:00 o'clock p.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election
when the polls shall be closed (except as provided in Section 5734 of the California Elections Code)
and the election officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat and the
returns of said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be by them
deposited with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Council shall meet at its usual meeting place and canvass said
returns on Tuesday, the loth day of March, 1965, (being the first Tuesday after said General Municipal
Election and the date of the first regular meeting of the Council following said General Municipal
Election) at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. and declare the results of said General Municipal Election.
RESOLVED,FURTHER, that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to do and perform any
and all acts required of her under the Charter of the City of Alameda and the laws of the State of
California in respect to said General Municipal Election,
BE IT FUTTHER RESOLVED that said General Municipal Election called and ordered to be held,
as aforesaid, shall be held and conducted,and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the
returns thereof made, and the result thereof ascertained, determined and declared, as herein provided,
and in all particulars not recited herein, in accordance with the Charter of said City of Alameda and
the laws of the State of California governing said General Municipal Election.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
5th day of January, 1965, by the follcming vote, eo wit:
AYES: Councilmen Freeman, La Croix, Jr, McCall, Rose and President Godfrey, (5).
NOES: None,
