APPROVING, UPON RECOMMENDATION OF SITE STUDY COMMITTEE,
LOCATION FOR ALAMEDA CAMPUS OF PERALTA COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore unanimously urged that a suitable location in the
City of Alameda of a campus of the Peralta College be determined, and has heretofore appointed a
College Site Committee to study all possible locations therefor and make recommendation to this
Council; and
WHEREAS, said Committee, by its report to this Council dated October 14, 1965, has
resolved and determined that "Site G," commonly known as the "University of California Property,"
is the best possible and hence primary location for such an Alameda campus, has recommended same;
and
WHEREAS, said Committee, in arriving at its recommendation, gave due and detailed con-
sideration to, among other factors, size, transportation facilities, police and fire protection,
effect upon both neighborhood and entire City, potentials for expansion and educational endeavors,
local tax aspects, utilities and street accessibility, property availability, and aesthetics, of
said "Site G";
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the report and
recommendation of said Site Study Committee relating to the location of an Alameda Campus of the
Peralta College be approved, and the Board of Trustees of said college is hereby urged to undertake
such procedures as may be necessary to acquire said site and thereafter, as soon as feasible, to
further undertake the construction and location of an appropriate campus thereon.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said campus location, hereinabove called Site G" and by
this resolution approved, is more particularly designated on Map No. 5760 of the City Engineer, as
Parcels 1 and 2, comprising 61.7 acres more or less, and referred to as "U. C. Property," which
lies west of Webster Street to Fifth Avenue (Street) extended, and north of Atlantic Avenue to
Tinker Avenue.
