CITY OF 31 ',,L RESOLUTION NO. 7177
APPROVING PARTICIPATION BY CERTAIN LOCAL HOUSING OWNERS IN
THE FEDaRAL RENT SUPPMETENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Maymms Committee on Low Cost Housing is investigating methods by which financ-
ing may be secured for the construction, rehabilitation or maintenance of resideattial housing for
persons of low income residing Ma the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, this Council desires to study the feasibility of such housing and to consider
various sites therefor cathin the City; and
WHEREAS, said Committee recommends that said study include consideration of financing
available ado: the federal rent supplement program, hereinbelow referred to; and
EMEREAS, under the provisions of Section 10.1 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of
1965, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to enter into contracts to make
rent
111 (1 payments to certain qualified private housing owners on behalf of qualified low—
income familibs who are elderly, handicapped, displaced, victims of natural_ disaster or occupants
of sub—standard housing; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of said Section 101 cannot be made available to such owners in
certain localities unless the govarning body of the locality has by resolution given its approval
for such participation An the Federal. Rent Supplement Program; and
=READ, this Council, as the governing body of the City of Alameda, understands such
approval does not commit the City to the expenditure of any public funds, the grant :mg or transfer
of any public property, or to the doing of any act at this time -- other than the giving of such
approval -- whish will require any contractual. or other obligation. 02 relationship under said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY' THE COUNCIL Cr TEE CITY OF 01,j 013 that approval is
hereby granted for participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program by qualified housing owners
of property located in the City of Alameda, County- of Alameda, State of California.
IT the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly- and regularly'
introduced. and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
16th day of Julyk 1967, by the following vote, to wit:
AIES: Councilmen Bartley, Fore, La Croix, Jr., Leyy and President McCall, (5).
