Resolution 07274CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 7' CREATING CHARTER AMENDMENT ADVISOBM comm=EE, APPOINTING MEMBERS AND PRESCRIBING DUTIES THEREOF. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE C:Ty oF ALAREDI Section. 1- There is hereby created a committee which shall. be known as the 'Charter Amendment Advisory Committee," to which the following residents of the City- are appointed au members: Dr. Philip T. Durfee Geraehty William S. Godfrey George A. flack:Leman Rev. Wilfred H. Hodgkin jerry- J. 17717 Kenneth Kalman Flmin Larsen Richard. Lombardi Frank D. McE1Ri171 ey Herbert M. Robles Lawrence Stickney Graham Tattersall August T. Wientren Karl K. figelhofer Section 2. Said Committee shall have the follow:iv. powers and duties: (a) To adopt rules for the proper administration of its affairs, and to select frau its meMbership a. Chairman, Secretary and such other officers as it mmy require; (0 To study, evaluate and make written recommendations to the City Council_ au to whother there should be proposed to the electors certain propositions amending the Charter of' the City, including but, not limited to the following matters; (I) Direct eioction of the Mayon for a. specifiod term ,) years; (2) District representation on City Council; (1) Election. of members of the City Board of Education; (1) Consideration of residency requirement for occupants of the electivo offices set forth in Section 2-5 of the Charter; (5) (6) (7) ConsiMeration of monetary level at which formal purchasing procedures are required; Duch other changes in or reclaims to the Charter as may be directod by the City Council; Such alternatives to the above as the Committee deems appropriate or necessary to permit the clear "17 17 of opinion by the electorate. Section 3, The City Manager and. the City Attorney shall consult with and. advise the Com- mittee, and shall draft, in proper form, such amendatory language as may be necessary to accomplish the Cotee!s intended recommendations. Sectibn 4- In its study the Committee may gather information from any- source and Hay incur expense therefor as in its judgment is reasonable and necessary, Sertfmn 5. The Committee shall dotermine the time necessary for cob4Retion of its studies and evaluation, and shall advise the City Ocrnail Gf the date by which its said written recommenda- tions will be submitted. In this connection, the Comnril recognizes the extrerp importance of the significance and permanency of Charter change, 1717 is unwilling to sacrifice to expediency the most careful consideration of such matters. Section 6. Membepe of the Comrdttee may be removed by the Council at any time and the Committee may be likewise dissolved.
