Resolution 07275GM OF ALAAEDA RESOLUTION NO. 7275 RECOGNIZING EEED FOR LOW-COST HOUSING- IN CITY, SUPPORTING PROGRAIIUNDRE FEDERAL ACT FCE FUENIGHING SALTE AND ESTABLISHING COMMITTEE TO ORGANIZE SPONSORSHIP THEREOF. WHEREAS, on March 29, 1967, there war,,, establEshed the EMayor,s Committee on Low Cost Housing, whose purposes, among others, were the investigation of possibilities by which housing for pegeons of low income might be provided, and recommendations to the Mayor and Council appropraate to saad investigation; ard WHEREAS, certain persons were appointed to said Committee, which thereafter recommended inquirin n ( the feasibility of the formation of a limited-dividend. or non-profit corporation spon- sorthip under a program by which tUe Department of Dousing and Urban Development iS authorized to enter into con:mac:Le with Qualified. private housing owners' on behalf of qualified low-income families who are elderly, handicapped, dieplaced, victims of natural disaster or occupants of sub-standard housing; and WHEREAS, on Jbly 18, 1967, by Fosolution No. 7177, this Council approved participation in said progrmm, and it now appears in the public interest to implement same by declaring its further support thereof, NOW YFFREDCRF, BE iT RESOLVED BY THZ COUNCIL CD TER CITY OD ALAREDA (1) That, there exists a continuing need for housing for qualified persons of low inoome who are residents of the City of Alameda, and the formation of a sponsorship under the housing and Urban Development Act appears to be an appropriate method by which this need may be servedb (2) The said Mayor,s Camnittee shall submit to the Council the names of persons in the community who are willing and able to organiue the sponsorship required under said Act, and. the CUM- cil may- thereafter appoint said persons, or others, to undertake steps as may be required for such formation, and for the previding of each hopping. (3) The sbonscrship referred to shall be by a private non-profit entity, finanoed entirelg from sources other than the City, except that the City hereby- expresses ita intentien to make avail- able to such entity, for use as a site or sites for a qualified housing developer under saig Act, land which may be acquired by the City from the Lousing Authority of the City- of Alameda, whenever the Authority terminates It5 operation of a. temporary- hotsing project lomatbd on such land- (4) The persons referred, tE 3303 10 be known as the "Alameda Comrdttee for iow-Cost ousdg" and shall, when appointed, supplant 310 .03 Mayer's Comkittee.
