APPROVING ANh AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR EMENCEMICX

WHEREAS, the City has for many years provided a dervine to its residontw by furnishing
vehiries for the trandponting of persons in medical emergency cases caused. by or arising from
abcidents or from sudden sickness or Injury within its geographic limits; and
WHEREAS, in such cases, immediate hospitalization or supplying of emergency medinal atten-
tion may be necessary to save life, 7)1 1) some cases delays in transportation. to permit investiga-
tion 7 7 1 ancial 7''' (11 of such persons might aggravate such injury; and
WHEREAS, it is no longer practicable or feasibib for the City to continue to provide such
sex-Eine by use o its ohm emergency vehicles, but it is hereby found to be necessary and in the best
public irRenest that 1 1 1 mergency ambulance servine be continued to he furnished; and
WHEREAS, the Day Cities Ambulance Company had furnished such servdces to rany public
agencies in this area, and continues to furnish same as an operation in the usual course of its
business since 1947, and is well qualified and willing to provide such servine to the City of Alameda;
and
WHEREA8, a. form of abTeanent between the City and said. company by which the latter proposes
to undertake the servines referred to, and which agreemert contains the ternym covenants and condi-
tions relating to the rights, duties anM liabilities of the parties thereunder, has been prepared and
plabed on file in the office of the City Clerk marked, 'Filed, December 17, 1:968;" and
ETEMEAS, this Council is inforred and aware of the contents of said agreement and finds it
to be mutually advantageous tc the proposed parties that it be entered into at this time;
ROW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOINED BY dhE COUNCIL OF THE CiMEY OF ALAMEDA that the Mayor of the
City of Alameda, and the City Clerk, be, and each hereby is, autherized and directed to ebecute and
to attest to, respeotdvely, for and on behalf of the City of Alameda, that certain agreement between
the City and Allied AEbniance, Inc., a California corporation, transacting business undzr the firm
name ang style of May Cities 'ambulance Company, which abasement relates to the furnishing of emergency
medgcal ambulance service within the Cityu hy said company, and which provides for certain payment by
the City therefor.
