RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIE OF TUE CITY OF' AIATEDA CONGRATULATING
RABBI GUNTHER GATED ON THE IWENTY-SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF HIS
SERVICE TO TNERMII/ ISRAEL AND TO THE CITT OF' ALAMEDA
HEREAS, Rabbi GUNTHER GATES has completed twenty-two years as the leader of the
congregation of Temple Israel; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi Gatea has endeared himself to the members of the Temple, particularly
the youth, for his dwvotion to their needs, spiritual, educational and social; and
REEREAS, Rabbi Gates was instrumental in establishing in the City the annual observance
of Brotherhood Weeko a program which brought together for special servibes worshipers in the
various faiths in the community and which was enthusiastically received as a means of promoting
greater unity amonp ale religtions denpminatiuns of the City; and
NREREAS, Rabbi Gates has contributed generously. and constructively to the work of various
City advisory comaitLess to which. he haa been appointed by the City Counvilm
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City- of Alameda does hereby extend
to Rabbi Gates its sincere congratulations on r haying achieved a record of twenty-two years of
outstanding leadership of Ibbule Israel.
PE 17 FURTHER RESOLVED that al , on behalf of the citizens of the community, hereby
acknowledges with appreciation the devotion of this fine man to the welfare of Ids follows, and
commendo him nust highly for his contribution of time and effort to the religious and cniturai life
of the City.
BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified ropy of this Resolution be forwarded to Rabbi
