33. MODIFiGATION TO ASSEMELY 3111, NO. 2057, RELATING TO
"ShNifedIEWIE BANE" USES PROVIDED FOR IN CIAGTS GENERAL PLAN
MEDIAS, the City of Alameda, pursuant to Eta Ordinance No. 1586, New Series, enacted
April, 8, 1969, has adopted a comprehensive, long-term General Plan for its 1' 'oat develoament„
all in accordance wits and as required by Sections 65500 and following, Government Code of
California; and
WHEREAS, said Plan contains carefully proected land uses for some of the area defined
in Assembly No. 2057 as the "shoreline band,' none of which uses involve placing of ma in,
or Extraction of materials from, the San Francisco Bay and
WHEREAS, said TIEeS were conceived as an integral part of the planning for the entire
geograpitical area of the City of Alameda, changes in which might upset the balance of residential,
O ecreational, open space, comnercial, industrial and agricultural land uses, thereby.- materially
affecting the future living environment of persons residing in this City, as well. as those hiving
• adjacent Bay comaunities; and
WHEREAS, modifications of said General Plan and restraints upon the administration and
implementation thereof are possible under certain provisions of Assembly- Bill No. 2057, which
requires review and approval of land use proposals up to one thousand feet (1,000,) from the mean
high tide line, by an agency external to the City of Alaaeda,
DOW, THFREFORFL SE IT REGOLVED BY TEE COUNCIL OF Thl CllY OF ALAMEDA that 230 111 Bill
No. 2057 be modlfied or amended in an appropriate manner so as to exclude therefrom the requirement
that a permit from the San :Francisco Bay- Conservation and Development 1' 01 be obtained for
any land or stamotural use within the area encompassed by a municipality,s 33 200 General
Plan, and within the said "shoreline band," when such use is in accordance with and in implementatior
of the General Plan; provided, however, 33 01 such. use contemplates or pertains to the placing of
fill in, or the Extraction of materiaap from, the Bay, tnen the permit provided for in said Bill
snail first be applied for and obtained from said Commission.
