APPROVING CERTAIN REPLACEMENTS TO CITY'S FIRE ALARM SYSTEM,
AND AUTRORTEINO EXPEITDIETIRES THEREFOR
WREDEA2, the Fire Chief has recommended. replacement of its present Gamowell Fire Alarm
System, consisting o0 290 alarm boxes distributed. within the Cityn with a 70 telephone—callbox
type of installatddn, known as the Bell Symtam 520 Emergency Reporting System; and
WHEREAS, installation of such System mill result int an improvement in the Cityhs fire rating,
made periodically hy the American Insurance Association, formerly Pacific Fire Rating Bureau, and the
recommended replacement would otherwise be in the City's best interests; and
WHEREAS, cost of installation of the telephone System is estipated at $7,500.00, including
said. Companyhs Model. 520A Switchboard and the 70 Emergency Reporting Stations (Callboxes), and monthly
operation and pRintenence charges at $865.00;
NOW IFEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BI TUE COUNCIL OF ThE CITY OF ALAMEDA. that the recommendation
of the Fire Chief for replacement of the City's fire alarm reporting system, as hereinabove recited,
is approved and adopted;
BE im FURTHER. FECOLVED that expenditures for installation and operation of said System are
hereby authorized as a financial obliRtion of the Cityt
0 T FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cit. Manager is hereby authorized to take such further action
as may be necessary' to effectuate installation of said Emergency Reporting System, all in accordance
with a Proposal therefor, as amended, made Iv The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company to the City
on SepteMber 29, 19695 and file in the offise of the City Clerk on October 7, 1969.
