Resolution 07581CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 7581 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN MEMORIAM TO A. HUBBARD MOFFITT, JR. WITH DEEP SORROW, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its most public-spirited citizens, A. HUBBARD MOFFITT, JR„ whose passing has greatly saddened his many friends, WHEREAS, Mr. Moffitt was appointed on August 10, 1940, as a Commissioner on the newly-formed Housing Authority of the City of Alameda, from which he resigned on October 15, 1946, to accept appoint- ment as a member of the Board of Education; and WHEREAS, Mr. Moffitt served on this Board with great devotion, acting as its representative on the Recreation Commission for the period from September 2, 1952, to January 20, 1951, and as its President from July 1, 1963, until the press of personal business forced him to withdraw from that activity on June 30, 1965; and WHEREAS, Mr. Moffitt had brought honor to himself and to the City in service to his country during World War II, in which he had served with distinction on the staff of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and had attained the rank of Colonel; and WHEREAS, Mr. Moffitt was highly esteemed for his unselfish contribution of time, effort and leadership ability to charitable and service organizations for the benefit of the community and of the entire Bay Area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in tribute to this outstanding civic leader who had so generously given of himself in behalf of his fellow-man, the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby express its sense of personal loss. Further, his many years of public service are gratefully acknowledged with genuine appreciation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this meeting and a copy thereof be sent to the family of Mr. Moffitt that it might convey to its members sincere sympathy in their bereavement, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda adjourns, it shall do so in respect to the memory of A.
