CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 7585
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN MEMORIAM
TO MARION E. BEICKE, RETIRED RECREATION LEADER
IN A SPIRIT OF SADNESS, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its
faithful former employees, MARION E. BEICKE.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Beicke, after serving in various capacities in the City Recreation Department
from the date of her temporary employment on March 1, 1944, was appointed Playground Director on
January 1, 1946, later classified as Recreation Leader III, in which capacity she was serving on the
date of her retirement February 1, 1968; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. 3eicke had been most capable as e supervisor in the City parks, particularly
Washington and McKinley Parks, conscientiously directing the recreational program of the youngsters
under her guidance and generously contributing her talents toward the success of all phases of the
activities; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Beicke was greatly loved and respected for her unfailing sense of humor and
for her unselfish concern for and generosity toward those she contacted in her work, many of whom found
their burdens lightened by the thoughtfulness of this brusque but kindly woman.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby acknowledge
with gratitude the services rendered by this excellent employee on behalf of the youth of the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this meeting
and that a copy thereof be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Beicke in order to extend to its members a
sincere expression of sympathy in their bereavement,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda adjourns,
it shall do so in respect to the memory of MARION E, BEICKE,

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
20th day of January, 1970, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Fore, Levy, Lonyaker, McCall and President La Croix, Jr., (5).
NOES: None,
ABSENT: None.
