RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN MEMORIAM
TO OLIVER W. FISHER, RETIRED CITY EMPLOYEE
WITH GREAT SORROW, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its
former loyal employees, OLIVER W. FISHER.
WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher had been employed by the City of Alameda as a Fireman on January 1,
1921, and had performed his duties in a most capable manner until his retirement on May 25, 1943;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher had always been a most dependable employee, friendly and cooperative
with his fellow Fire Fighters and other associates, and had shown a genuine interest in the activities
of the retired employees of the City; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher had been renowned as the creator of the Alameda Girls Softball Team,
which brought honor to its members and to the City by its success in winning the World's Championship
in that sport in 1938 and 1939.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in recognition of his earnest efforts in the performance
of his job and in appreciation of his civic service during his irony years of City employ, the Council
of the City of Alameda does hereby express its sense of personal loss and its gratitude for the
endeavors of this fine man.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this
meeting and a copy thereof be sent to the family of Mr. Fisher that it might convey to its members a
sincere expression of sympathy in their bereavement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda adjourns,
it shall do so in respect to the memory of OLIVER W. FISHER.

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
20th day of January, 1970, by the following vote, to wit:
