RECOMMENDING SUSPENSION OF WORK ON SOUTHERN BAY CROSSING
AND DELAY IN CONSTRUCTION THEREOF; AND REPEALING RESOIKTON
NO. 7234 NHICh DECLARED SUPPORT OF SAID CROSSING
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that it finds and deterrniies, and
hereby recommends to the Director of Public Works of the State of California, that all work on the
Southern Bay Crossing be suspended, and construction thereof be delayed to a time subseouent to the
operation of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District, and until the effect of said Crossing on the District's
traffic can be evaluated and determined;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 7234, adopted October 19, 1967, which stated the
support of this Council of the plans of the California Toll Bridge Authority with respect to the construc-
tion and location of the proposed Southern Bay Crossing, he and hereby is repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the state Legislature, the said Authority, and all other appropriate
agencies and officers are urged to recognize the wishes of the citizens of the City of Alameda with
respect to said Crossing, as herein expressed.

AYES: Councilmen Levy, Longaker, and President La Croix, Jr., (3).
NOES: Councilmen Fore and McCall, (2).
ABSENT: None.
