RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN MEMORIAM
TO RUTH RIGBY, BUREAU OF ELECTRICITY EMPLOYEE
WITH GREAT SORROW, the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its
faithful employees, RUTH HIGBY.
WHEREAS, Miss Rigby had been employed by the City on September 14, 1942, as a Counter
Clerk-Typist at the Bureau of Electricity and had earned promotions to the several positions of
Utility Bookkeeper-Clerk, Senior Account Clerk, Utility Accountant and Senior Utility Accountant,
in which capacity she was serving at the time of her death; and
WHEREAS, Miss Higby had been most dependable and efficient in the performance of the
duties of her various posts during the twenty-seven years of her City employment and had been greatly
respected for her conscientious assumption of responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Hiss Higby had been most congenial in her relations with her fellow workers and
had been an active member of the Alameda City Employees Association and the Alameda Municipal Credit
Union, contributing generously of her time and efforts for many years toward their success as an
officer of both organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby recognize
with appreciation the valuable service of this loyal employee on behalf of the City and the harmonious
relations which prevailed with her associates.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this
meeting and a copy thereof be sent to the family of Miss Higby in order to convey to its members an
expression of sympathy in their bereavement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda adjourns,
it shall do so in respect to the memory of RUTH HIGBY, whose many friends have been deeply saddened
by her untimely passing.

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
19th day of May, 1970, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Fore, Levy, Longaker, McCall and President La Croix, Jr., (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
