CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO, 7728
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION BY ALAMEDA FREE LIBRARY IN FEDERAL
LIBRARY SERVICES AND CONSTRUCTION ACT PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY
EAST BAY COOPERATIVE LIBRARY SYSTEM, AND AUTHORIZING ALAMEDA
COUNTY LIBRARIAN TO EXECUTE PROJECT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, pursuant to its Resolution Nos. 6549, 6982 and 7156, the City authorized membership
in the East Bay Cooperative Library System by the Alameda Free Library; and
WHEREAS, said System proposes to enter into library services projects with the federal govern-
ment under the Library Services and Construction Act, for the fiscal years 1971-72 and 1972-73, and the
Library Board has recommended to this Council that the Alameda Free Library Participate therein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the Alameda Free
Library be and it hereby is authorized to participate in the said proposed projects hereinabove referred
to, and the Alameda County Librarian is authorized to execute a Library Services and Construction Act
application therefore on behalf of said Library;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Librarian be and he hereby is authorized to execute the
project descriptions as indicating the participation herein authorized;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is hereby certified that, during the continuance of said pro-
posed project, the Alameda Free Library will comply with the requirements of Title VI of the federal Civil
Rights Act of 1964;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, to the extent determinable by it, the Alameda Free Library can be
expected to support financially the proposed project after its completion at such level as said Library
may deem necessary to continue the services established by the project;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Library Board is hereby authorized to undertake and do all
things necessary or appropriate in connection with said project, within the meaning and intent of this
resolution.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
16th day of February, 1971, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Fore, Levy, Longaker, McCall and President Le Croix, Jr., (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
