CITY CF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8003
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6232 BY ADDING SUBSECTIONS (A) AND
(B) TO SUBPARAGRAPH F(7) OF SECTION 1 THEREOF, RELATING TO
ACTING PAY FOR EMPLOYEES PERFORMING DUTIES OF HIGHER
CLASSIFICATION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that Resolution No. 6232, adopted
June 20, 1961, be and hereby is amended by adding subsections (a) and (b) to Subparagraph F(7)
of Section 1 of said Resolution, to read:
"(7)
In any case where, by reason of an employee temporarily performing the
duties of a position having a higher rank and classification, an inequity
would exist insofar as such employee, the City Manager may make such
order increasing the salary of such employee to an amount not to exceed
ten percent (106) or the equivalent of two steps above the highest step
of such employee's permanent range."
"(a) Each full-time employee with classification below the level of
Division Head, who is not a sworn member of the Police or Fire Departments,
who performs the full duties in a position of a higher classification for
a period of ten (10) consecutive working days in any calendar year, shall
receive an increase in compensation, otherwise denominated "acting pay,"
in the manner provided hereinabove for that period of time exceeding such
initial ten (10) day period.
"(h) Each full-time employee who is a sworn member of the Fire Department
with classification below the level of Division Head, who temporarily
performs the full duties of a position of a higher rank, as provided
hereinabove, shall be entitled to have the time served in such higher rank
credited as continuous time at such higher rank for the purpose of qualify-
ing for advancement within the salary steps or range of the higher rank,
in the event such employee is subsequently duly promoted to the said higher
rank and provided the time served in such acting appointment or higher rank
is contiguous in time to the permanent appointment."

21st day of November, 1972, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Fore, Levy, McCall and President La Croix, Jr., (4).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Longaker, (1).
