RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA COMMENDING
AND CONGRATULATING THE CROLL FAMILY UPON THE NINETIETH
ANNIVERSARY OF ITS BUSINESS ACTIVITY IN THE CITY
WHEREAS, the Croll Hotel was operated during the latter Part of the nineteenth century
in conjunction with an outdoor center which served as a facility for sports events of all kinds,
and the Croll Gardens, where world famous boxers trained and various community activities were
held; and
WHEREAS, with the closing of the center the hotel continued under the Croll family,
which has enjoyed great prominence and has contributed largely to the civic and social functions
of the City over the years; and
WHEREAS, February 14, 1973, will mark the ninetieth anniversary of continuous management
and ownership of the enterprise by that family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby commends
the Croll family upon the success of its efforts and extends its congratulations upon the achieve-
ment of ninety years of business activity in the provision of pleasure to a large segment of the
people of the area.
GE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby convey its
best wishes for continued success, good health and happiness to the members of the CROLL family.
