VAN SICKLEN VISI: DEEP SORROW, the Council of the City of Alwieda records the death of onc of ita most, 'futile—spirited citizens, THE HONORABLE FBECFBCCII ME VAN SiCKIMI, whose passing has Nreathy saddened, his many friends: WYLDEAS, Judge Van SiMmen was a native son and lifelong resilient of tte City of i-x d; and REEREAS, Judge Van Sick ien bad brought or to himself and to the City in service to his country during World War II, and had attained the rank of Lieutenant Comaander in the United States Navy; and WHEREAS, Judge an Sicklmn was anmo'rted by Cevennes, Goodwin Knight on May 15, 1957, as Judge of the Alameda Municipal Court, which office he held until his appointment on August 21, 1964, by Governor Edmund G. Brown, to the bench of the Alameda Superior Court, in which capacity he was serving at the time of his death; and MIDDDEAS, Judge Van Sicklen was highly esteemed for his unselfish contribution of time, effort and leadership ability to judicial, charitable and service organisations for the benefit of the community and of the entire Bay Area, NOW,THFREFORM, BE IT RESOLVED that, in tribute to this outstanding jurist anal civic leader who had so generously given of himself in behalf of his fellow—man, the Council ef the City of Alameda does hereby express its sense of personal loss. Further, his many years of public service are gratefully acknowledged with genuine appreciation. BE II FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread in full upon the minutes of this meeting and a copy thereof be sent to the family of Judge Van Siokien that it might convey to its members sincere sympathy in their bereavement. BE i FURTHER RESOLVED that when this meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda adjourns, it shall do so in respect to the memory of THE HONORABLE =ERICK M. VAN SICKIEN, whose demise is indeed a great loss to the community.
