CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8246
APPROVING ANN SUPPORTING EOUNIDE AUTOMATED 911 EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY SERVICE
WHEREAS, Title 5 of the Government Code requires the provision of Sll emergency telephone
service throughout the State of California before flecember 31, 1982, and
WHEREAS, the County of Alameda desires to undertake a certain project designated the
Automated 911 Trial in Alameda County with fording from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administra-
tion, and
WHEREAS, said project will provide 911 emergency telephone service, such as the
City of Alameda presently has, throughout all of Alameda County, and
WHEREAS, said project will permit each municipality to answer the 911 emergency calls
originating within its borders and enable it to dispatch emergency assistance even when the caller
is too young, ill, panicky, or confused to communicate his location, and
WHEREAS, said project will serve as the national trial of such an advanced 511 system and
be evaluated during a three year period beginning in the third quarter of 1976,
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Alameda supports
said project and will fully participate in the advanced 911 trial by permitting the installation of
the necessary 911 telephone equipment; maintaining ard/cr permitting the collection of such
communication records as may he reasonably requirec for the trial evaluation; and continuing its
public safety participation in the Alameda County 911 Users Task Force.
