Resolution 08251285 CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 3251 REQUESTING ENACTION OF STATE LEGISLATION REQUIRING MANDATORY BINDING ARBITRATION IN LABOR DISPUTES FOR PUBLICLY-OWNED TRANSIT SYSTEMS WHEREAS, the long interruption of service by the Alameda-Contra Costa County Transit Cistrict due to labor-management dispute has caused great and in this Council's opinion, unnecessary hardship upon the patrons and riders of said public transportation system, which hardship ought to be avoided in the future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF ALAMEDA that the negotiators for both the Alameda-Contra Costa County Transit District and the Amalgamated Transit Union Division 192 are hereby encouraged to enter into continuous negotiation of the issues until those issues have been settled by mutual agreement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby supports the passage of League of California Cities-sponsored SB 2133 as it would provide the most equitable method of resolving such public sector labor-management disputes; and that failing mutual settlement of such public trarsit disputes or the adoption of SB 2133, the state legislature is requested to enact appropriate statutes which will require said District and all public transit systems, and its employees, to enter into compulsory and binding arbitration for the settlement of labor-management disputes. * * * * * * * * * * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 20th day of August, 1974, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Corica, Hurwitz, McCall and President La Croix, Jr., (5).
