Resolution 08299341 CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 3299 CALLING SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ELECTION CONSOLIDATED WITH GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA ON TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 1975; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PRECINCTS; FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION OFFICERS ON THE BOARD OF ELECTION FOR EACH PRECINCT; FIXING COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING HOURS OF VOTING WHEREAS, Article XIX of the Charter of the City of Alameda provides that a General Municipal Election shall be held in said City on Tuesday, March 11, 1975; and WHEREAS, at said General Municipal Election, and pursuant to the provisions of the Charter of said City, officers are to be elected to fill the office of Mayor for one full term; the office of Councilman for one full term; and the office of member of Board of Education for two full terms; and WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution and specifications of the election order passed and adopted on December 10, 1974, by the Board of Education of the City of Alameda being the governing board of the Alameda Unified School District of Alameda County, the County Superintendent of Schools of Alameda County has called and ordered to be held in said district of Alameda, on March 11, 1975, a, Special School District Bond Election, and has requested the Council of the City of Alameda to order a consolidation of said Special School District Bond Election with the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Alameda and in said school district on Tuesday, March 11, 1975, and has further authorized the Council of the City of Alameda to canvass the returns of said Special School District Bond Election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that a General Municipal Election be, and is hereby, called and ordered to be held in said City of Alameda, State of California, on Tuesday, March 11, 1975, in accordance with the provisions of said Charter of the City of Alameda, for the purpose of electing the following named officers of the City for the terms specified: One (1) Mayor of said City for a full term commencing at 7:3C o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1975, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified; One (1) Councilman on the Council of said City for a full term commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m, on the third Tuesday in April, 1975, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified; Two (2) members of the Board of Education of said City, each term commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1975, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified; and for the purpose of voting on any measures or propositions which may lawfully be submitted at said election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a Special School District Bond Election be, and is hereby, consolidated with said General Municipal Election to be held in said City of Alameda, State of California, on Tuesday, March 11, 1975, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said district the measure of incurring bonded indebtedness of said district for the purposes set forth in the following measure: MEASURE A Shall the Alameda Unified School District of Alameda County incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal amount of Four Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars (44,750,000) to bear interest at a rate cr rates not exceed- ing 85 per annum payable annually the first year and thereafter semi-annually, to provide funds for the demolition and replacement of the following school buildings at Alameda High School which have been determined to be structurally unsafe in the event of an earth- quake: the three-story east building, the three-storm main classroom building, the audi- torium, gymnasium, boys and girls shower-locker rooms and two small administration buildings, said amount of bonds (together with funds to be provided by the State of California) being sufficient to provide replacement of the above- mentioned school buildiros, all in accordance with the plan of this Board on file in its office? BONDS - YES BONDS - NO '34 ° e 0—J RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the 71 election precincts within the City of Alameda, designated and numbered as the same were last heretofore defined, fixed and established by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election precincts within the City of Alameda fcr holding General State and County Elections, be, and the same are hereby, fixed, designated and established as the election precincts for holding the aforesaid Special School District Bond Election consolidated with the aforesaid General Municipal Election, RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the Board cf Election for each election precinct at said election shall consist of one Inspector, one judge and two Clerks. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the compensation to be paid to each of the election officers for conducting said election be, and the same is hereby, fixed at the sum of Twenty-eight Dollars and Fifty Cents (928.50 and an extra sum of One Dollorfand Fifty Cents ($1.50) shall be paid to the election officer who delivers the returns to the City Clerk, RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the polls at the polling places hereafter to be designated by the Council for said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until 7:00 o'clock p.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election when the polls shall be closed (except as provided in Section 14436 of the California Elections Code) and the election officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballets cast thereat and the returns of said election shall be made cut and signed by the election officers and shall be by them deposited with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that this Council shall meet at its usual meeting place and canvass said returns on Tuesday, the 18th day of March, 1975, (being the first Tuesday after said election and the date of the first regular meeting of the Council following said election) at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. and declare the results of said Special Schcol District Bond Election consolidated with said General Municipal Election. RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to do and perform any and all acts required of her under the Charter of the City of Alameda and the laws of the State of California in respect to said election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Special School District Bond Election consolidated with said General Municipal Election called and ordered to be held, as aforesaid, shall be held and conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof node, and the result thereof ascertained, determined and declared, as herein provided, and in all particulars not recited herein, in accordance with the Charter of the said City of Alamede and the laws of the State of California governing said Special School District Bond Election consolidated with said General Municipal Election. * * * * * * * * * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City cf Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th day of January, 1975, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Ccrica, Hurwitz, McCall and President Le Croix, Jr., (5).
