CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 6329
AUTHORIZING THE FILING FOR PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FROM ASSESSMENT
FOR COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 25643 OF THE
CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE
WHEREAS, Section 25643 of the California Government Code prcvides for the determination
of fire protection costs and for a property tax levy by the County Board of Supervisors on property
within the county served and benefited by such county fire protection services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is not served or benefited by said county fire protection
services as it provides its own fire protection services; and
WHEREAS, Section 25643 requires any city ntt benefiting from county fire protection
services to file with the County Board cf Supervisors a resolution declaring that such city is
providing its own fire protection services within its own jurisdiction in order to he exempt
from assessment for any portion of the costs of county fire protection services; and
WHEREAS, such resolution will allow the City of Alameda to be exempt from said assessment
for the coming fiscal year and any year thereafter;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that such application for exemption from assessment by the
County be, and hereby is, approved and the City Manager is authorized and directed to execute and
attest to said exemption on behalf of the City;
BE. IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby urges the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Alameda to approve such exemption from assessment for county fire
protection services on behalf of the City of Alameda,
