ESTABLISHING POLICY STATEMENT WITH REGARD TO PROVIDING AN
EMPLOYEES ASSISTANCE PROGRAM THROUGH THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH
SERVICES, INC.
WHEREAS, the City cf Alameda recognizes that behavioral or health problems may affect
the conduct, job performance and attendance of employees; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda believes that such problems can be successfully treated
or assisted, provided they are identified in their early stages, and referral is then made to an
appropriate source of care or help; and
WHEREAS, there exists a program offered by Occupational Health Services, Inc., titled
Employee Assistance Program;and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Employee Assistance program is to provide these services
which the City of Alameda feels is beneficial for its employees and every safeguard respecting
confidentiality is assured; and
WHEREAS, such services will be provided for the benefit of the employees without cost
to the City; and
WHEREAS, such program is of a voluntary, not compulsory nature; and
WHEREAS, the various employee groups representing the employees of the City have
endorsed said adoptbn;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that it adopt said
Employee Assistance Program,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorizes to take those steps
necessary to implement said program,

introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
16th day of September, 1975, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (5).

ABSENT: None.
