CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8482
OPPOSING ENTRANCE OF THE CONCORDE SST INTO THE UNITED STATES, AND,
MORE SPECIFICALLY, INTO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA MARKET
WHEREAS, recent permission has been granted the French to land the Concorde SST at
Kennedy and Dulles Airports for a trial period; and
WHEREAS, there has been substantial opposition throughout the country to the adverse
effect of the SST on the atmosphere and its negative noise impact upon areas surrounding airports
which are open to the use of the SST; and
WHEREAS, the SST, if ever permitted to land and depart at Oakland Airport, would produce
substantially greater noise impact than other aircraft now using the Airport, adversely affecting
all of Alameda, and the cities of Oakland, Pedmont, Emeryville, San Leandro and 5erkeley;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Alameda go on record opposing the entrance
of the Concorde SST into the United States;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda, more specifically, opposes the entrance
of the SST into the San Francisco Bay Area market, particularly at Oakland International Airport;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda request that the cities of Oakland,
Pedmont, Emeryville, San Leandro and Berkeley, join Alameda in its stand opposing the entrance of
the SST into the San Francisco Bay Area.

17th day of February, 1976, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (5).
